Tell Me When It Kicks In

Vaccination of intoxicated chemicals to appease humans in distress,
Quenched thirst of thick blood which past generations lost their souls trying to impress,
Injection of whonga into veins that will to be relaxed,
Monuments of forbidden memories man wish to neglect,
Popping bottles day-after-day to avoid sleepless nights in hell,
Battling with the distorted reality that you might if you had,
Looking back at the furnished bricks you laid while you could,
Brings anxiety and hallucination from the mixture you inhaled because you willed.

Tell Me When It Kicks In

Conflicts in parliament-you laying there it doesn't affect you,
Derailed hopes and dreams in motion-you settled it doesn't affect you,
Escalation of crimes and tribalism in progress-you Western it doesn't affect you,
Xenophobic attacks degrading human dignity-you South African it doesn't affect you,
Tax invasion among our leaders leaving the poor astray-you have food on the table it doesn't affect you,
Violence and the killing of other humans taking place leaving open wounds with yellows puss-you have your whole family intact it doesn't affect you,
Children smoking marijuana at an early stage with the idea of gaining intellect-your children are clean it doesn't affect,
Foreign countries buying their way into our country testing nuclear explosives polluting our air and sea-your water is clean it doesn't affect you.

Tell Me When It Kicks In

Being in conflict with the idea of your mom not returning from work,
Loosing family members now that you care about society instead before,
Crying yourself to sleep because the food you ate is now on someone's table,
Walking the streets with empty pockets cause your hustle has now been depleted,
Digging into recycle bins cause the grant that kept your stomach busy feeds the rich,
Staggering the streets in caution, living with the fear that the same children you let turn into junkies will lead you to the morgue,
International family members living in the fear of their Right to Life being exploited;

Tell Me When It Kicks In

I know it does now,
South Africa we in this together,
It might not affect you now but the measles always come back to hit you.
This is your home,
Every child in need is your own,
Unite and do not live in despair,
Fore what happens today determines our tomorrow,
Rome wasn't built in one day,
We can too.
